LA BOTTE PICCOLA AND PALENCIA WINE CO ANNOUNCE “SELECCIÓN ”
PALENCIA INVITES YOUR PALATE TO “TAP” DANCE…. SALUD

Woodinville, WA September 23, 2012

La Botte Piccola, a Woodinville-based wine distributor, and Palencia Wine Company, a Prosser based wine company, announced the launch of a premium series of wines produced by winemaker Victor Palencia. Named “Selección” the wines will be the first produced under Palencia’s own proprietary label and distributed exclusively by Piccola. Crafted from some of the oldest and most renowned vineyards in the state, the wines will epitomize the premium quality of Washington best AVA’s. “I’m really excited to launch this line” stated Palencia. “It’s been a life-long dream to develop my own signature wines harvested from some of the same great vineyards that I grew up with.” The wines will be released and distributed through Piccola’s wine-on-tap network and available through those on-premise establishments with limited availability in bottle form. “The times are changing and we believe that wine-on-tap is the perfect venue to showcase these premium wines” stated Palencia. “I’m passionate about crafting great wines and look forward to bring this passion to the people by giving consumers the opportunity to enjoy premium wines in their favorite social setting.” The “SELECCIÓN” Series is a roundup of some of Washington’s finest vineyards sites. “I want to bring Washington’s terroir to the table by flag-shipping AVA’s and crafting wines of distinction from our taps to your glass.”

Despite his age, Palencia, 27 has an impressive resume. He is the winemaking genius behind the Jones of Washington Winery named 2012 Washington Winery of the Year “Wine Press Northwest Magazine”. He is also the Director of Winemaking for J&S Crushing, one of Washington’s premier custom crush wineries. Victor grew up in the small town of Prosser, renowned as the heart of Washington Wine Country. His upbringing was humble but full of the rich surroundings of beautiful vineyards that thrive in north Prosser. He is a graduate of Walla Walla Community Colleges Enology & Viticulture Program in 2005. After graduating he immediately put paper to practice by crafting Willow Crest Wineries wines from 2004- 2007, after a small stint with Apex winery he started crafting Jones of Washington wines in 2008, under his watch he has led the Jones Brand to be named 2012 Washington Winery of the year. His talent and passion has not gone unnoticed, with featured articles in the New York Times, Seattle Times and Wine Press Northwest Magazine, including numerous local publications announcing his numerous prestigious awards both in local and international wine competitions. With an artistic talent fueled by passion he is crafting some of Washington’s finest wines.

“The vineyard is and forever will be my home, home is where the heart is, I want to take my wines back to the roots.”

La Botte Piccola is Washington’s pre-eminent wine company specializing in Wine-on-Tap. Focusing on key Washington varietals, their wines are delivered in stainless steel kegs served via a traditional tap system. Serving over 90 restaurants and catering customers, they also have a robust retail presence. Elegantly presented and preserved, their 100% reusable keg containers give their customers a unique economic and environmental advantage over standard bottle packaging.

Announcing: The Piccola Tote!

Brand new from local winery Piccola Cellars: Fresh, delicious, Washington wines in our new user-friendly/eco-friendly tote. The most portable wine container yet – these are just begging to go along. Tote one hiking, boating, picnicking or out to dinner. Most importantly….tote one home! Enjoy!

Available at the Piccola Cellars tasting room and select retailers throughout the Puget Sound- locations can be found under “The Tote” section.

Pinot Gris- Delicious! Layers of ripe Yakima peach and fresh grapefruit. Chilled, it’s the perfect aperitif and great with lighter meals and appetizers. I bet your palate would enjoy this with a fresh spring beet and goat cheese salad.

Chardonnay- Refreshing Washington state Chardonnay grapes without the influence of oak barrels. Just a clean and bright, crisp citrus. Bone dry, it’s wonderful with seafood. Try with some red pepper hummus and halibut!

Riesling- Pineapple, peach and mango! Crisp acidity with just a touch of residual sugar. Washington state fruit at it’s best! Enjoy as an aperitif or with intensely spiced dishes. The ideal sushi (or Thai food) wine.

Merlot- A great big Washington favorite! Black fruit and a hint of cocoa create the background for firm tannins in this rich, dark Merlot. Just what you want with roasted meats. And cheese, please! Watch this Merlot transform with some smoked salmon spread.

Syrah- Ripe berries and black plums with a touch of smoke and black pepper. This dark Washington Syrah goes as well with blue cheese as it does with roast pork! Or simply enjoy on its own. This is your movie night wine.

Bordeaux- Cabernet and Merlot grapes lead the way in this Washington state version of the French classic! A deep dark beauty with an intense bouquet of black cherry and licorice. Drink on it’s own but watch it explode with your favorite cut of steak. Vegetarian? Try with a rich and earthy root veggie casserole with your nicest cheese. You’ll be pleased:)

Cheers and remember…

Drink outside the box!

PICCOLA WINE CO. ANNOUNCES NEW GENERAL MANAGER

Unconventional Woodinville winery hires local brewer to bolster their production team

Woodinville, WA March 27, 2012

Piccola Cellars, a winery specializing in Wine-on-Tap, announced this morning that it has hired Janelle Pritchard as its new General Manager. Pritchard, whose resume includes stints at Snoqualmie Falls Brewing Company, Pike Place Brewing Company and Trade Route Brewing Company, brings a wealth of experience to her new role at the winery. She has held both Head Brewing and General Manager positions at several local breweries and has an intimate understanding of production cycles and operations. At Piccola, she will be responsible for all production operations and administrative oversight.

“Some people might think it odd to hire a brewery expert as a winery GM, but it makes a ton of sense to us” says Piccola co-owner Diana Kaspic. “She is actually a perfect fit – we have tight production cycles, move a lot of inventory every week, and have many of the same logistical issues that breweries do. We’re extremely excited to have her on board.” Kaspic noted that some of Pritchard’s immediate goals will include helping produce a sparkling wine along with bringing hard cider into the Piccola inventory.

Piccola Cellars currently produces a range of Washington wines, all packaged in reusable/recyclable containers. Their large format packaging and elegant preservation system provides their customers with a unique economic and environmental advantage over standard packaging.

Cheers!
